One of the most exciting things with working on Mapillary is that everything we do is global. Our apps are available everywhere and we make no restrictions on who can contribute from where. Being available globally from day one also presents some challenges.
At Mapillary our working language is English and everything we have done to date has been English only. We want to be accessible for everyone, everywhere and we have heard from users around the world that language is a barrier.
Today, I'm happy to announce that we have enabled language support to our website. We are starting out with Swedish, German, Polish, Chinese (simplified, and traditional), and Spanish. You can try this out with the little flag icon in the upper right corner.
Just like our photos, we are opening up the translation for crowdsourcing. Our language files are on GitHub and we happily accept pull requests for improvements and new languages.
The translations do not cover the entire site yet, we are starting with the important pages and growing/improving this in the open together with our community.
